MAINTENANCE AND UPGRADES

This is an account of new equipment, upgrades, repair and/or replacement of equipment on S/V Discovery and receipts are stored electronically. This list only includes major components; it does not include minor parts such as electric terminals, hoses, wire, and other bits under $50 that may be necessary to complete a project. All installations, repairs, and maintenance is performed by me unless otherwise specified.

2022​

  • Installed 4 x 26-R Portvisor Rainshields (July)

  • Installed 6 x 14-R PortVisor Rainshields (July)

  • Installed 2 Vestus SS Dorads w/ 2 SS Tom Cowl Vents (July)

  • Replaced Davit lines (1/2” x 40’ each side) (July)

  • Replaced 3 x 5lb Fire Extinguishers (July)

  • Installed 2 US Solid 1/2” SS electric ball valves for main water tank and saddle tanks with switches located in galley to control freshwater tank usage (June)

  • Replaced main sail out haul line w/ 60’ x 12mm double braid line (June)

  • Installed 2 Garhauer blocks on masthead cranes and 2 x 100’ double braid external spinnaker halyards (June)

  • Replaced stolen 51 mm Series 25 Stainless Fiddle Block on outboard engine hoist

  • Installed Trident Marine LP Gas Control & Detection Kit (May)

  • Installed Trident Marine LP Gas solenoid and bulkhead mounted Marine Single Stage Propane Regulator with female QCC hand nut (May)

  • Installed 2 Caframo Maestro fans in forward cabin (May)

  • Replaced fiddle blocks on boom vang with Garhauer Marine Series 30 64mm blocks (March)

  • Replaced fiddle blocks on running backstays with Garhauer Marine Series 25 51mm blocks (March)

  • Replaced inner forestay track cars with Garhauer Marine 2 1/2" Unibody Single block for 1 1/4" track (March)

  • Replaced broken ATN Tacker B for asymmetrical spinnaker (March)

  • Replaced broken 57mm sheave in boom (March)

  • Installed 4" Marinco Day/Night Solar/Battery Stainless Vent in aft cabin hatch (March)

  • Installed 4" Marinco Day/Night Solar/Battery Stainless Vent in main cabin hatch (March)

  • Removed 10" hatch in galley and installed 3" Marinco Day/Night Solar/Battery Stainless Vent (March)

  • Re-wired electrical system (March)

    • New Ancor tinned wire throughout boat

    • New shore power cord

    • Installed Blue Sea 500A ML-Series Remote Solenoid Switch for house battery

    • Installed Blue Sea 500A ML-Series Remote Solenoid Switch for electric winch 

    • Installed Blue Sea 500A ML-Series Remote Solenoid Switch for windlass 

    • Installed Blue Sea 500A ML-Series Remote Solenoid Switch for engine battery

    • Installed Victron Phoenix Charger 12/50 (90-265 VAC input)

    • Installed Victron Smart Battery Shunt 500A

    • Removed 340w rigid solar panel from Targa and installed 2 - 150w solar panels

    • Installed 4 Victron 75/15 Victron SmartSolar Bluetooth MPPT Solar Charge Controllers

      • 1 for each of the 2 - 150w solar panels mounted on Targa​

      • 1 for array of 4 - 80w solar panels on Bimini

      • 1 for array of 2 - 40w solar panels on dodger

    • Installed Victron Long Range Smart Battery Sense Voltage/Temperature ​Sensor

    • Installed BlueSea 12A deckhand light fixture dimmer for main cabin lights

    • Installed Lunasea 6 3/4" Chrome Flush Mounted LED (soft white/red) light in passage to aft cabin

    • Installed 2 - 36" Aqualitz LED Blue Strip lights on Bimini for cockpit lighting 

    • Replaced all AC electrical outlets with US CGFI 3 pronged grounded outlets

  • Replaced faulty Water Witch Bilge Pump Switch (March)

  • Installed 2 Caframo Sirocco II Gimbal Fans in aft cabin (March)

  • Installed 2 Caframo Sirocco II Gimbal fans in main salon (March)

  • Installed Shakespeare Classic Skinney Mini AIS Antenna on Targa on 2' 4700 extension mast (March)

  • Removed Vespar Marine Watchmate AIS and installed Em-Trak B951 Class B+ SOTDMA AIS (March)

  • Replaced steel LP tanks from Fiji with 3 - 10lb Manchester Vertical Steel LPG Cylinders (March)

  • Replaced old steel accumulator tank with Sureflo 2 gal. Stainless Steel Accumulator Tank (March)

  • Replaced leaking galley sink faucet with Scandvik J-Spout Galley Mixer faucet (March)

  • Installed MaxWater 10" 2 stage water filter system under galley sink (March)

  • Removed diaphram shower pump and installed Johnson 1000 GPH Multiple Port Shower Sump for aft cabin shower and sink drain w/ new hoses (March)

 

2021​

  • Installed Electric Fuel Pump (Nov)

  • Maxwell RC10-10 vertical windlass installed (Sept. by RevMarine, Port Denarau, Fiji)

  • Redesigned anchor locker to accommodate vertical windlass (Sept. by RevMarine, Port Denarau, Fiji)

  • Haul out, Antifouled, polished and fully surveyed (June by Baobob Marine, Port Denarau, Fiji)

  • Installed Iridium Go w/External Antenna (July)

  • New Macerator pump installed in aft head (July)

  • Installed Standard Horizon VHF radio w/RAM Mic (July)

  • Installed Icom M-802 SSB/Ham radio (July)

  • Installed Garmin GPSMap 943xsv Chartplotter on binnacle (July)

  • Installed Garmin GWind II (July)

  • Installed Garmin GT15M-IH depth transducer (July)

  • 4  Lunasea 5 1/2" Chrome Flush Mounted LED (soft white/red) lights installed in salon (July)

  • Replaced brass incandescent reading lights with 2 SCANDVIK Frosted Glass Shade Cabin & Reading LED Light installed in aft cabins (July)

  • Replaced 1 brass incandescent reading light in main cabin with SCANDVIK Frosted Glass Shade Cabin & Reading LED Light (July)

  • Installed Water Witch 12/20 Bilge Pump Switch and Bilge Pump Cycle Counter (April)

  • Installed Water Witch High Water Sensor and Round BP500 Audible Alarm (April)

  • 4 Lifeline GPL-4CT AGM Batteries installed (April)

  • New upholstery throughout (2021 by unk.)

 

2020

  • New Genoa and Jib sails from Zoom Sails ($1000 USD)

  • Mainsail completely re-stitched and refurbished including new UV protection

  • Built and installed Rigid Bimini over cockpit

  • Added 2 - 80-watt flexible solar panels to rigid Bimini (FJD 1060)

  • Added side clear and side shades to rigid Bimini by Marshall Sails, Port Denarau, Fiji (FJD 4302)

  • Serviced Maxwell Nilsson windlass and replaced solenoid by RevMarine (FJD 1750)

  • Added 3 small PortVisors (USD 120)

  • Installed 1 - 340-watt rigid solar panel on Targa

 

2019

  • Replaced 100 m of 10mm galvanized anchor chain (FJD 2899)

  • Applied bottom paint (FJD 799)

  • E-Nex starting battery (FJD 345)

  • Installed new lifeline gates and hardware ((FJD 140)

  • Maxwell Nilsson anchor windlass complete rebuild and new hand control (FJD 2301)

  • Replaced water pump Jabsco 2.9 GPM (FJD 385)

  • Repaired bow thruster (FJD 1080)

  • New Dinghy Shearwater 310 RIB (NZD 3474)

  • New Outboard Motor Yamaha 15 HP 2-stroke ((NZD 2900)

  • Installed Profurl C350 Furler and long link plates (NZD 3406)

  • Installed Racor Fuel Water Separator Filter (NZD 482)

  • Installed 2 Isotherm BI41 refrigerator/freezers (NZD 2600)

  • Replaced primary anchor with Rochna 33kg (NZD 1229)

  • Replaced shroud turnbuckles by WestSide Rigging, Fiji (FJD 1305)

  • Replaced Bilge pump float switch (FJD 100)

  • Replaced Propane regulator, 3 x 4.5 kg tank, and solenoid gas shut-off valve
